For sale is my factory manual 2002 BMW E46 M3 with approximately 110k miles and a clean Washington title in my name.
The M3 is finished in titanium silver and features the rare and desirable ‘impulse cloth’ interior. The car is also a ‘slicktop’ variant, meaning it came from the factory without a sunroof. This not only reduces weight and eliminates any potential sunroof issues, but also provides additional head room for taller drivers or for those wearing a helmet on a track.
While I have never personally tracked the car, its rare specification is highly sought after by enthusiasts as it is one of the lightest and most driver focused configurations available. Under my ownership I had the rod bearings and VANOS system completely overhauled (shop invoices available and included with the car) for peace of mind and increased reliability for the future. Virtually all E46 M3s need these costly maintenance items done so having them already professionally completed greatly improves the M3 ownership experience.
The rod bearings were replaced with ACL bearings which should last the life of the car and the VANOS was overhauled with a complete Beisan Systems kit to ensure increased reliability. While these services were being done, the car also received a valve adjustment as well as replacement of the serpentine belt, A/C belt, pulleys, belt tensioners, engine mounts, oil level sensor, and timing chain guides, all as a preventative measure. Going further, the car has also been fitted with brand new OEM shocks (car rides and handles like new), spark plugs, alternator, as well as having fluids and filters (air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter) replaced.
Every service mentioned here was completed within the last 5,000 miles. The car does have some minor scrapes on the exterior, as well as a bit of wear on the interior due to age. There are a couple of scrapes noted on the front and rear bumpers as well as some wear on the outer seat bolsters and interior door handles from the previous owner getting in and out of the car.
These are all things that could be remedied with a bit of attention but otherwise allow you to use and enjoy driving the car without getting too particular about regular wear and tear. The car has spent virtually its entire life in the Seattle area (sold new in California and brought to Washington State soon after) and is a great example of a well sorted E46 M3.
